For my senior recital at NYU I wrote a bunch of music and got the best players I knew to play with me. They were eager to get inside the music and the recital was a huge success. After college, we became the Josh Myers Quintet. We played together for about three years before we started to split apart, all of us getting busy with other projects and other interests. Walls Red is a document of what we did together, and the first album that I produced as a bandleader. We had an incredibly productive two-day recording session at Maggie's Farm followed by a long and intensely rewarding summer of mixing with Michael Perez-Cisneros. Dan Venne gave us myriad sounds to work with, giving this album an electro-acoustic edge that I was really into at the time. While it's a shame this band no longer plays together, I am still incredibly proud of this record, and am thrilled to make it available for download. I still have some CDs from the first printing. If anyone would like a physical copy just get in touch with me and I'd be happy to ship it off to you.
